These pictures are from a collection of over 100 photographs of stairs which I have taken all around the world over the last 20 years whilst working on assignments in places as diverse as Venezuela and the British Museum. The images reflect both the architectural and atmospheric qualities of stairs and explores their allegorical role.
Staircase
You climb from cellar to attic sweeping
through the house connecting floors, lives, worlds.
Light plays with you, creates shadows.
I follow in step, the rhythym of the house
played out in your tread.
Voices echo, rising and falling,
You judge no one, carry all.
